OUR STORY
Belle Isle Moonshine was founded in 2013 in Richmond, VA by Vince & Brian, two brothers-in-law who set out to tap into the rich history of America's original clear spirit: moonshine. Prior to rise of imported spirits like vodka and tequila, Americans distilled and drank our own unaged white whiskey (a.k.a. "moonshine").
Vince & Brian started with a very simple question: why are vodka and tequila so popular in America today? They found their answer - vodka and tequila had premium products like Grey Goose and Patrón that people clamored after, but moonshine did not. Thus began their quest to create the first premium moonshine.
Belle Isle Moonshine started out humbly as just one product - our flagship Belle Isle Black Label, available only by special order in Virginia. Vince & Brian hit the streets (and bars), sharing the Belle Isle vision and getting it into the hands of consumers and key industry partners.
We're proud to say all our products are:
+ triple distilled from 100% organic corn
+ carbon-filtered for clarity and smoothness
+ cut with purified water from the James River
+ naturally gluten-free
+ never contain any artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors
To help showcase the versatility of Belle Isle Moonshine, in 2015 we created 3 DIY infusion recipes to showcase at Richmond’s Moonshine Festival. One of those recipes became the star of the show and set us on a course into new territory.
Our honey & habanero infusion was a huge hit at the Moonshine Festival, with lines wrapping around the building to taste it. Turns out folks were less interested in making the DIY infusion at home, and wanted to buy a finished bottle of it right there instead. Thus, Belle Isle Honey Habanero was born and from it, the idea of releasing a product line of infusions was also created.
At the core of Belle Isle's ethos is a dream to make enjoying tasty drinks easier and more accessible to all. Going where no moonshine had gone before, in 2019 we rolled out our first collection of ready-to-drink products: Belle Isle Canned Cocktails.
Our line of canned cocktails features our award-winning premium moonshine as the base and only contains the best in real, all-natural ingredients for a full and fresh flavor. Now fans no longer had to go through the trouble of mixing up a cocktail. You can crack open a can, sip, and enjoy straight away!
10 years after Vince & Brian created the first premium moonshine, we've sold over 1 million bottles and canned cocktails, hosted hundreds of happy hours across the country, been written up by some pretty awesome publications, and we're just getting started!
